Cash handling experts Volumatic are supporting one of their employees with a generous donation as she prepares to undertake a skydive this Autumn to raise money for Myton Hospice – a local charity that offer end of life care for those with terminal illness, based near Volumatic’s headquarters in Coventry.
The brave lady taking on this challenge is 23-year-old Lucy Allden, who has worked for Volumatic for six years, after joining as an Apprentice, and who now works in the Sales & Marketing team as a Business Development Representative. Lucy is doing the skydive in memory of her Nanny Mary, who was cared for by Myton Hospice in the final weeks of her life.
Myton Hospice focuses on enhancing life when a cure is no longer an option. They not only support people living with terminal illness, but also offer support to their family and friends, from diagnosis to end of life. They focus on patient wellbeing in both their centres and in the community and most importantly, offer patients more quality time with their loved ones.
Lucy decided at the start of 2025 that she wanted to challenge herself to do new things, and despite a fear of heights, she has decided to face her fears head-on by doing the tandem skydive to support a charity close to her heart. The skydive will see Lucy jumping from a plane at 14,000 ft and will take place on Saturday 4 October (rescheduled from 12 July), over the skies of Nottingham.
Aiming to raise £1,500 for the charity, Lucy has already received lots of donations from her family, friends and colleagues, but the extra donation from Volumatic will mean she has smashed her target and can donate even more money to Myton Hospice.
She said: “Volumatic agreeing to donate to my charity fundraiser is fantastic and I am so grateful to them. I am already overwhelmed with the support my friends, family and colleagues have given me in trying to raise money for Myton, and so to get this extra donation now from my workplace is amazing and I can’t thank them enough.”
She added, “Doing a skydive is a big deal for me, but if it means I can support a charity that helped my Nanny and my family, I have to be brave and embrace this challenge!”
James Harris, MD at Volumatic said: “Here at Volumatic we’re always happy to support our employees wherever possible. When Lucy told us she was doing a skydive for charity, we knew it was something we wanted to support and we are delighted to be able to help her raise money for such a worthy cause that is local to our business, and we look forward to supporting other good causes in the future, as we do every year.”
