About Us
Sustainability
Our Approach to Sustainability
Here at Volumatic, we always strive to do the right thing by our customers, our partners, our colleagues, and the communities we operate in. As a cash industry leader, we have a duty of care to continually monitor and reduce the impact of our operations and try to improve them wherever we can.
Our approach to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) is a simple one – we continually strive to make improvements to our products, services and operations to make them more sustainable and reduce their impact on the planet. We’re always keen to hear new ideas (whether big or small) from our employees, partners and stakeholders, and we frequently work together with them and our suppliers to implement these changes across our business.
Our ESG Credentials
Environmental
Volumatic is proud to be a member of RECOUP – the UK’s leading independent authority and trusted voice on plastics resource efficiency and recycling. This means we have access to their resources and support to help us expand our environmental objectives.
We’re currently working with RECOUP to make the pouches used in our CCi device fully recyclable. The materials in our pouches are already recyclable, but we’re continually improving their design to make them easier to recycle through standard processes.
We’ve also been trialling bulk recycling of our pouches with the help of one of our cash processing partners, Vaultex (a member of the Cash Industry Environmental Charter), and following a successful trial at their Birmingham cash centre in recent months, we’re aiming to roll out a full bulk recycling process for our pouches to more cash centres across the country in the near future – see process at the bottom of this page.
Other products in our range are also fully recyclable, including our steel CCi enclosures and the plastic enclosures of our CountEasy and CountEasy TS scales. When we design and develop any new products, we always consider how to make them more recyclable and minimise our environmental impact and carbon footprint.
We also have a number of environmental measures in place at our Coventry HQ, including the use of recycled, custom-fit packaging to reduce waste, LED lighting for energy efficiency, a fleet of electric or hybrid company vehicles, digital product manuals available through our Support website, and the use of reusable swap-it boxes for our next-day box swap service.
Social
As our Mission Statement and company values state, here at Volumatic, our people are our most valuable asset and are at the heart of our business. Their talent, commitment to our customers and pride in our business are key to our long-term growth.
We create a workplace for all our employees that encourages respect, protects their health and safety in both our offices and warehouse, prioritises inclusion and diversity, and focuses on personal development wherever possible. We encourage an open-door policy, and by listening to and working with our employees and stakeholders across the globe, we identify shared objectives to unlock the social, environmental and business values we all work towards.
Volumatic is proud to be hold an Investors In People (IIP) Silver accreditation. This accreditation recognises that Volumatic has a highly empowered workforce, a supportive management team and an embedded commitment to developing individuals.
Every year we choose to support a different charity close to the hearts of our employees or customers to raise money and to help address a range of different social issues. Over time, these charity partnerships have helped deliver a wide range of benefits for the people in our communities. Recent charities we have supported include Autism Dogs, Barnardo’s, Breast Cancer Now and Myton Hospices.
Governance
Our Board of Directors meet every month with our major shareholders, Mercia Asset Management to discuss all areas of our business, including our commitment to ESG.
Areas of discussion include risk management, business performance against ESG objectives, plus operational decisions, investments, actions and alignment of business priorities towards improving our ESG credentials.
Volumatic take Risk Management very seriously, and we always strive to provide a safe and compliant environment for all our employees. Our most recent BSI (British Standards Institution) assessment confirms that we are compliant with the following standards: BSI Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), BSI Environmental Management (ISO 14001), and BSI Occupational Health & Safety Management (ISO 45001).
We are also currently working towards compliance for ISO 27001 – the International Standard for Information Security Management (ISMS), to demonstrate our commitment to best-practice information security and risk management.
We consistently encourage honesty and transparency amongst both our employees and customers.
The CCi Pouches Recycling Process
Step One
All the empty CCi pouches are collected from cash centres by a local plastic recycling company.
Step Two
The complete pouches are shredded into smaller pieces or flakes, starting the recycling process.
Step Three
The shredded plastic is melted down and then cut into uniform plastic pellets, which can be used as raw material for new products.
Step Four
The recycled pellets can be used to manufacture a wide range of new products, from bottles and packaging to textiles and construction materials.
