Volumatic supports employee in gaining Level 3 IfATE Award

22 January 2024

Volumatic employee Ewa Prasowska has made an impressive start to the New Year, after gaining a Distinction in her Leadership and Management Level 3 qualification.

Ewa, who has worked at Volumatic for 10 years, embarked on the 13-month course in September 2022, following discussions with her managers in her annual appraisal on how she could develop in her current role.

Together, they identified that she needed development in both leadership and management and after researching various courses, found the ideal course through the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IfATE), part of the Government’s Department for Education.

Partly funded by Volumatic and partly funded by a Government grant, Ewa’s course allowed her to develop skills such as how to give feedback in the right way; how to coach others successfully; how to deal with difficult situations that arise in management; and how to manage projects, which she has already managed to put in to practice within her role as a Senior Operations Administrator while studying for the course.

In tandem with her Leadership and Management course, Ewa also studied for Level 2 Maths and English qualifications, as despite having the equivalent qualifications in her homeland of Poland, she needed to have the English versions in order to successfully gain her award.

Although the work was challenging and took over 300 off-the-job hours to complete, Ewa is understandably proud of her achievement and would recommend the course to anyone wanting to further develop their skills in this area. She said: “I worked very hard on this course and meeting the deadlines was definitely a challenge at times, but ultimately, it was all worth it! Having completed this  course feels like someone gave me a huge magnifying glass, as I now understand so much more and it has given me a great insight into management and businesses as a whole.”

She added: “I was surprised and delighted to be awarded a Distinction – I was only expecting to get a Pass as I found some elements of the course especially difficult with being Polish, but to get a Distinction feels amazing!”

James Harris, MD at Volumatic was also keen to congratulate Ewa on her success. He said: “Ewa has done brilliantly to achieve a Distinction, and it is testimony to the hard work she has put into this course. It is an absolute pleasure to support any of Volumatic’s employees in their personal development, but especially when they approach it the way Ewa has. Congratulations Ewa.

Volumatic recently gained an Investors in People Silver accreditation, which they have retained since 2021, following an assessment by IIP, which demonstrates their embedded commitment to looking after the training and development of their employees. Only 20% of organisations assessed achieve this level, so this is a fantastic achievement for a company of Volumatic’s size.
