Volumatic is awarded a Silver Investors in People accreditation

05 August 2021

We are delighted to announce that Volumatic, following an in-depth and rigorous assessment, have been awarded an Investors In People (IIP) silver accreditation. A valued standard for leading, supporting and developing workforces in the UK, a silver accreditation is a rare and impressive achievement for a company of our size – a team of just 40 – and is a testament to both our values and our colleagues, who are the backbone of Volumatic.

We put our people at the very heart of our corporate values” said James Harris, Managing Director. “Global events over the last 12-18 months have created some incredibly challenging trading conditions for our industry, and yet Volumatic has just posted its best-ever trading performance with a 23% growth on the previous year, and we are well on track to continue that growth trajectory into the current financial year and beyond.”

Our outstanding performance is, without doubt, a direct result of our people having a common purpose and working together to find a way to meet these challenges head-on. I am very proud to be part of such a remarkable team and I look forward to us working together, building on our successes, and creating a bright future for Volumatic.”

- James Harris, Managing Director, Volumatic

In celebration of the award, we thought we would take the opportunity to ask a few of our team members what it is like to work at Volumatic.

A Growing Culture of Collaboration

The Volumatic company values of Innovation, Customers, and People play an important part in the day-to-day running of our business. As a result of these values, our IIP assessment found that people enjoy working for us and believe that our company culture is positive and constantly improving.

“I’ve always felt comfortable asking my colleagues for help. Nothing is too much trouble. All the directors are approachable, and I can make a difference at Volumatic at a level that I couldn’t within a larger corporation”

- Tom Walker, Former Internal Business Development Representative, recently promoted to UK Sales Manager with account management responsibilities (6 years' service)

“Volumatic creates an employee-friendly environment. They have supported me in improving my skills, whether language classes to improve my English or International Trade training, and new roles that arise are always offered internally first. I can say Volumatic definitely invests in its people!”

- Ewa Prasowska, Stock Controller following two internal promotions (7 years' service)

“Unlike at a larger company, any good ideas can be quickly implemented at Volumatic. Being able to influence change is an immense source of job satisfaction!”

- Phil Thomas, Customer Support Manager (30 years’ service)

“Starting as a Business Administration apprentice, I was never just a tea and coffee runner; I was challenged a lot, given a real workload, and was given opportunities to work in different areas of the business to support my learning.”

- Lucy Allden, happily promoted to a permanent Sales Order Processor role following successful completion of her Apprenticeship (2 years’ service)

Increasingly Innovative in Ambitions

Despite the difficult and uncertain trading conditions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Volumatic was able to maintain a strong position in the cash handling market as a key supplier organisation to many of the nation’s essential retailers, including: Morrisons, Wilko and Tesco.

Volumatic are cited by IIP as being “increasingly innovative in its ambitions and is outward-looking as a business”. These attributes have seen us develop new and existing global markets despite COVID and now, following a number of internal promotions, we are recruiting for new members of the Volumatic team to build upon our success.

“I can honestly say that Volumatic is the best place I have ever worked for! People working here are kind, funny, and are always happy to help one another. I have never felt bad about going into work.”

- Ewa Prasowska

“The role is constantly changing and there’s always something different to do and something new to learn. It’s challenging but everyone gets on and wants to help each other!”

- Phil Thomas

“Ideas put forwards to directors are always listened to and staff are well rewarded – it gives the team a better outlook of the job they are doing”

- Richard Heath, Production Manager (18 years’ service and recently promoted from Production Supervisor)

“Working at Volumatic is challenging, with plenty of opportunities to progress, and a fun, atmosphere amongst the team”

- Tom Walker
