Subway turned to Volumatic to trial our one-touch CCi cash handling solution - and were more than impressed with the results...
Challenges Faced by Subway
More than half of Subway's stores are located in the United States, while within the UK, many franchisees own multiple sub-stores. Volumatic were approached by Malcom Mailer, owner of six Subway franchises in the UK about the challenges that he had encountered with his current cash handling process. Traditionally, his staff skimmed small amounts of cash regularly to reduce the temptation for theft from the till drawer, but this took up valuable operators time and was potentially leading to skims being misplaced. Add to this further time being taken to investigate these discrepencies and efficiency was being compromised. Other challenges that were identified were regular banking inaccuracies and the acceptance of forgeries, the cost of which each store had to absorb.
The Volumatic Solution
After a successful trial in the UK, Subway were able to quickly identify that Volumatic's CounterCache intelligent (CCi) one-touch cash handling solution eliminated many of their existing challenges. The CCi solution was able to simplify their current banking processes, reducing labour costs and enabling them to spend more time serving their customers. The CCi also meant that each Subway store had no forgeries and reconciling tills had gone from taking an hour to just 10 minutes.
The Outcome
Having successfully operated the CCi solution for over a year, it has now been has been integrated into numerous other Subway stores within the UK. Our CCi devices in Subway have processed hundreds of thousands of pounds in cash to date without a single error.
